KINDER

Are so tiny fingers, on two little hands
Must not ever hit them, or they’ll be breaking then

Are so little feet, with tiny toes count ten,
Must not ever step on them, they’ll never walk again

Are the smallest little ears, sharp, but don’t forget
Must not ever shout them down, or they’ll go deaf from it

Are so beautiful small mouths, which speak things aloud
Must not ever censor them, or nothing more comes out

Are so clear-eyed beauties, see all there is to see
Must not ever blind them, or that will no longer be

Have so small a soul inside, bright and free of fears
Must not ever torture them, or it disappears

Have a spine so little, and make no mistake,
Must not ever twist it, or it will surely break.

Upright, splendid humans take a lot of love
People without backbone we have plenty of.
