An architectural, asymmetrical accordion-style artist book Installation; 6-line poem by BB.
The paper-wrapped cover board folds under the project during display, revealing the last line of the poem and a shallow recess cut to hold the architectural fold. When not displayed the sculptural part of the book stores safely in a recess inside the work’s base platform, which doubles as the book’s back cover.
Quarter bound with a shaped Kraft-tex leather spine, titles on cover and spine. Large folio size, measuring 28 inches wide by 12.25 inches deep by 5/8 inches tall (71 x 31 x 1.6 cm) when closed, and 28 inches wide by 12.25 inches deep by 10 inches tall (71 x 31 x 25.5 cm) when displayed. Letterpress in 2 colors and debossing on the architectural piece, screen printing on the base, and titles. Edition of 10, signed and numbered.
My artist books, broadsides, and loose-leaf editions are published in very small numbers, as low as five. All are hand-printed and hand-bound (in the case of books) by me, all are signed and numbered. While I am trying to be perfect, I am human, not a machine. Some variations in the editioned work are to be expected due to the processes, materials, and the artist’s change of mind. It is exactly what makes the work collectible: each piece is an original work of art. The pieces employ printmaking like original etchings, woodcuts, carborundum, screen prints, monotype, monoprint, and letterpress. Nothing is produced using digital reproduction methods.
