A PARIS PRIMER

The Paris Climate Accord was agreed upon in 2015 by 195 countries to limit global climate impact by rising temperatures. The accord lays out the signatories’ legal commitment, among other things, to keep the increase of global temperatures to 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 Fahrenheit), but no more than 2 degrees C (3.6 Fahrenheit).

The US left the global agreement in June 2017. It rejoined it in February 2021.

2023 was the year with the most CO2 emissions ever.

This book addresses the impact on the environment of gasoline-powered cars, vans, and trucks. They are depicted by woodcuts as plagues like locusts. Hence the Latin subtitle plaga (plague)-locusta (locust)-vehicula (carriages, vehicles). Printed on gold metallic paper with portions of the Paris Agreement text visible in different languages.

The images and quatrains were printed during the reign of the Tangerine Nightmare, MMXVIII.
