ECOCIDE

This fairly large artist book shows some of the inner workings of our brains, synapses, neurons, dendrites and the like, based on early scientific drawings. Traditional printmaking techniques like woodcut, aquatint, drypoint, carborundum, collagraph, letterpress, and screen printing were used for the 6 color images on rag paper. There are quotes from Kurt Vonnegut and Blaise Pascal on the opening page and a colophon at the end. Foil and chine collé give it a final touch.

There are only 8 books. It is an 8-page accordion style book with a 4-page center flag section on heavy vellum. There is also one set of loose leaf prints, and one set used in an artist book installation. Signed and numbered.
Measurements closed are 14.5 x 11 x 0.5 inches, (37 x 28 x 1.2 cm); opens to 11 x 126 inches (37 x 320 cm).

My artist books, broadsides, and loose-leaf editions are published in very small numbers, as low as five. All are hand-printed and hand-bound (in the case of books) by me, all are signed and numbered. While I am trying to be perfect, I am human, not a machine. Some variations in the editioned work are to be expected due to the processes, materials, and the artist’s change of mind. It is exactly what makes the work collectible: each piece is an original work of art. The pieces employ printmaking like original etchings, woodcuts, carborundum, screen prints, monotype, monoprint, and letterpress. Nothing is produced using digital reproduction methods.
